Man assaulted State police are looking for the person who assaulted a Waynesburg man on April 21 after invading his Greene County home. The suspect is believed to be a white man in his early 20s with short hair.

According to police, the suspect assaulted Kurt D. Griedel, 49, of Oak Forest Road after entering Griedel’s home through the front door. Griedel was inside his home when the suspect approached the residence and began to talk Griedel through the screen door; the suspect then entered the home and demanded Griedel’s wallet and money, police said.

Griedel refused to give the suspect his wallet and the suspect then used an unidentified weapon to assault Griedel and took his wallet before fleeing on foot with the money, police said.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident. Anyone with information regarding the home invasion is asked to call the state police barracks in Waynesburg at 724-627-6151.

DUI charge pending

A 24-year-old Waynesburg man was arrested for driving under the influence following a traffic stop on Interstate 79 in Franklin Twp, at 4 p.m. April 21, state police said. Charges of DUI are pending the results of a blood test to determine the suspect’s blood-alcohol content level, police said.

Charges pending

Driving under the influence charges are pending against a German Township man following a traffic stop at the intersection of Route 21 and Route 188 in Franklin Twp. at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday, state police said.

Citation issued

B.J. Howard, 18, of Carmichaels was cited for harassment after he allegedly punched Dustin Cox, 19, of Carmichaels during an altercation along Ceylon Road in Cumberland Twp. at 5:15 p.m. April 22, state police said.

Metal stolen

State police said scrap metal belonging to Hydraulic Solutions of Waynesburg was stolen from a large trash container at 500 Jefferson Road in Franklin Twp. between 10 p.m. April 19 and 8 a.m. April 20.

One cited

State police said Jinnie White, 27, of Prosperity was cited for harassment after she allegedly spit in the face of Edward Woodring, 36, of Columbus, Ohio, following an incident in Pitt Gas, Jefferson Twp., at 7:30 p.m. April 22.

Injuries reported

State police said injuries were reported in a one-vehicle accident that occurred on Castile Run Road in Morgan Twp. at 11 p.m. April 26. According to reports, Austin J. White, 19, of Marianna was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control and struck an embankment, causing his vehicle to flip and roll into a field. White and a passenger, Leonard Arigoni, 20, of Mather suffered injuries in the crash, police said.

Women charged

Vicki Lee McCartney, 31, and Linda Lee Benyi, 55, both of Clarksville, were charged with harassment following an altercation that allegedly occurred at the Clarksville Fire Hall at 8 p.m. April 26, state police said.

Fender damaged

State police said sometime between 3 and 6 p.m. April 27 someone kicked in the front fender of a 2001 Dodge Caravan belonging to Cecil Abbott of Waynesburg while it was parked in a parking lot at Mountainview Gardens in Franklin Twp.

Man arrested

State police arrested a 61-year-old Mather man for DUI following a traffic stop on 3rd Street in Mather, Morgan Twp., at 6:20 p.m. April 27.

Paint scratched

Sometime between 8 p.m. April 26 and 8 a.m. April 27 someone scratched paint on the driver’s side of a 2006 PT Cruiser belonging to James Lewis of Clarksville while it was parked on Market Street in Clarksville Borough, state police said.

Centers burglarized

State police said sometime between 6 p.m. April 19 and 12:30 p.m. April 21 someone broke into the Shannopin Women Civic Center and the Bobtown-Dunkard Reading Center, both located on Larimer Ave. in Bobtown, Dunkard Twp., and damaged a number of items, state police said. The damage was estimated to be in excess of $300.

DUI crash reported

State police said a vehicle driven by Patricia Cunningham, 37, of Graysville was traveling on Rt. 18 in Morris Twp. at 11:45 p.m. April 26 when she slammed into a guide rail, resulting in minor injuries to Cunningham and two passengers, Christopher Thomas, 31, of Washington, and William Thomas, 32, of Eighty-Four.

DUI charge pending

State police said charges of DUI and several traffic violations are pending against a 62-year-old Carmichaels man after he allegedly lost control of his vehicle and ended up in a field along Stringtown Road in Cumberland Twp. at 7:40 p.m. April 25.

Vehicle accident

State police said vehicles driven by Hollis D. Obrochta, 82, of Rices Landing, Bruce M. Ellsworth, 29, of Jefferson, and Anndrew J. McCollum, 24, of Waynesburg were involved in a three-vehicle crash that occurred on Rt. 188 in Franklin Twp. at 5:17 p.m. April 24.Obrochta received minor injuries in the accident, police said.

Wire stolen

State police said sometime between 7 p.m. April 8 and 9 a.m. April 21 someone damaged an Allegheny Power utility pole and stole wire from a location along Rt. 10151 in Morgan Twp.

Ornaments stolen

Josephine Kendrella of Dilliner told state police that sometime between 10 p.m. April 23 and 9 a.m. April 24 someone stole two cement lion ornaments from her yard on Old Dairy Road in Monongahela Twp.

Gasoline stolen

Sometime between 4 p.m. April 12 and 12 p.m. April 13, someone broke into a vacant home on Gas Company Road in Perry Twp. and stole five 5-gallon cans of gasoline and undisclosed amounts of copper pipe belonging to Joseph Ruth of Mt. Morris, state police said.

Vehicles collide

State police said vehicles driven by Ioannis S. Varellas, 61, of Greensboro and Walter R. Radcliff, 31, address unknown, were involved in an accident that occurred on Rt. 21 in Monongahela Twp. at 3:51 p.m. April 24. No injuries were reported.

Wire stolen

State police said sometime between 5:30 p.m. April 21 and 6 a.m. April 23 someone cut a fence along property owned by Allegheny Power on Rt. 188 in Jefferson Twp. and stole 1,000 feet of copper wire.
