Rices Landing Borough seeks code enforcement officer

2 min read

At the April meeting of the Rices Landing Borough Council, members of council discussed hiring a code enforcement officer. The borough has advertised the position for several weeks without success.

The decision was made to expand advertising to fill the position.

Questioned after the meeting, Borough Mayor Brad Kline explained that the code enforcement position used to be combined with the zoning officer job, but the current person in the zoning officer job does not want the extra duties of the code enforcement position.

“Not combining the jobs makes it difficult to fill the position,” Kline said. “But we’ve received good feedback from builders on the current zoning officer, and we don’t want to lose her either.”

In other business, the council approved:

n An updated Emergency Operations Plan that included security procedures for commercial passenger vessels that may use the lock wall;

n Providing dumpsters on the lock wall for the borough clean-up day scheduled for Saturday, May 3, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.;

n The purchase of cold patch to begin repairing borough alleys;

n Providing concrete for an Eagle Scout project to place a bridge across the creek in Pumpkin Run.

Rices Landing Borough Council meets at 7:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month at the Community Building.
