Beatrice “Bea” Eley Hooper of Uniontown, Pa., passed away peacefully in Mount Saint Macrina on Tuesday, April 29, 2008.
She… Beatrice “Bea” Eley Hooper of Uniontown, Pa., passed away peacefully in Mount Saint Macrina on Tuesday, April 29, 2008.
She was born on August 16, 1916, in Virginia to Beasley and Essie Eley.
Beatrice was a member of Saint John The Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown where she was a member of the Choir and served one year as President of Christian Mothers.
She was an excellent seamstress, an accomplished artist who favored oil painting and water color. She enjoyed playing the piano.
Beatrice traveled to Germany, France and Canada. She learned to speak Russian and enjoyed cooking ethnic dishes.
Beatrice was a wonderful mother and set high goals and will be greatly missed by her family and friends!
“Bea” was preceded in death by daughters, Dawnielle, Doris and Audrienne, parents, Beasley and Essie Eley, sisters, Doris and Ann, and brothers, Vernice and Orfus.
Survivors include husband, Percy Hooper; children: Lamont (Mary), Estelle (Robert), Barry, Vaughn, Michele (Lemuel), Kevin (Monique), Robin (Stanton), and Rory. She had 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, nieces; nephews; and adopted great-grandson, Jacob.
Visitation was held in the LANTZ FUNERAL HOME, 297 Main Street, Uniontown, on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held today (Saturday, May 3, 2008, at 11 a.m. at SAINT JOHN THE EVANGELIST ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 50 Jefferson Street, Uniontown, Pa.
Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
