2-year-old girl injured in Springfield Township accident

SPRINGFIELD TWP. – State police said injuries suffered by a 2-year-old Mill Run girl do not appear to be life threatening after a car struck her in Springfield Township Thursday morning. The toddler, who was not identified, was taken by ambulance to Highlands Hospital in Connellsville and then transferred to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh following the accident.Rush said child was playing the yard beside the vehicle but moved behind it and was not visible to Murphy.

Rush said the toddler was found lying on the driveway in front of the vehicle.

He added that no charges will be filed against Murphy.

Emergency personnel were working with medical helicopter services to try and fly the child to Children’s Hospital but were unable to do so because of rainy weather.

According to Fayette County 911, volunteer firefighters from Springfield Township and Normalville, along with emergency personnel from Fayette EMS and state police, responded to the crash.
