Hearing continued
A preliminary hearing was continued Tuesday for a Westmoreland County woman accused of stabbing a man in the back during an altercation that occurred in Uniontown June 2. Carla Jean Weimer, 32, of Derry was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person after she allegedly stabbed Joseph Davanzo of Uniontown outside a resident on North Gordon Street.
According to a criminal complaint filed by Officer Jennifer L. Field, police were dispatched to 302 N. Gordon St. at 12:31 a.m. for a reported stabbing.
Field said police found Doug Franks of Uniontown holding Davanzo against a telephone pole, noting that Franks told officers he was attempting to apply pressure to a stab wound in Davanzo’s back.
Field said that Davanzo told officers that Weimer had stabbed him in the back.
Davanzo told police Weimer was in the home, Field said. Field said no one answered the door, but officers Ray Miller and Dave Hromada found a woman’s shoe and a steak knife that appeared to be covered in blood in the back yard.
Field said police entered the residence and took Weimer into custody without incident.
She remains in the Fayette County Prison on $50,000 straight cash bond.
A new hearing date has not been set.
