Preliminary hearing continued

By The 1 min read

A preliminary hearing was continued Tuesday for a Uniontown man facing multiple drug-related charges following an undercover investigation. Police Detective Donald M. Gmitter said Billy Deonte James, 27, of Apartment 5, 25 Morgantown St., was charged with single counts of possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to Gmitter, city police and the Fayette County Drug Task Force conducted the investigation regarding alleged drug sales from James’ apartment earlier this year.

Gmitter said officers used confidential informants to make multiple drug purchases from James at the apartment.

After several undercover buys, Gmitter said he secured a search warrant for the residence.

Gmitter and officers searched the apartment on March 22 and found cocaine and a digital scale.

James remains in the Fayette County Prison on $15,000 straight cash bond following his arraignment before Magisterial District Judge Joseph M. George Jr.

A preliminary hearing will be held at a later date in Uniontown.
