The art of Hopwood
When you think of Hopwood, you normally don’t think art, but if you go to the new St. Vincent de Paul art gallery, you’ll change your mind. The gallery, located along National Pike in Hopwood, had its grand opening last week and features works created by all local artisans. And their collection is not just limited to paintings. There are candles, crafts, jewelry and a variety of local photographs for sale. And the best part is that the money goes back into the community, and making purchases won’t break your pocketbook.
Jane Rakas, president of the St. Vincent de Paul board of directors, said that having an art gallery is a different approach for St. Vincent de Paul, but nonetheless, all of the proceeds help those in need.
“It really takes a community to do the work,” she said.
Now all they need is for the Hopwood and surrounding communities to spread the word that they are open for business.
Fayette County Commissioner Angela Zimmerlink, who was in attendance at the festivities, said that she will do her part in telling all of her fellow commissioners and constituents about the art gallery. Everyone else just has to do their part as well.
