Donald E. Deal, age 82, of Grantsville, Maryland, and formerly of Addison, Pennsylvania, went to be with the Lord on… Donald E. Deal, age 82, of Grantsville, Maryland, and formerly of Addison, Pennsylvania, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 16, 2008, from South Fayette Nursing Center, Markleysburg, Pa.
He was born January 12, 1926, in McHenry, Maryland, the Son of Elmer Deal and Bertha Durst Deal.
Donald was a Deacon and faithful servant of the State Line Methodist Church for many years.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy who served during World War II. He was aboard the U.S.S. Missouri in 1945 during the peace treaty signing.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 214 in Grantsville, Maryland.
“Don” was a carpenter and painter by trade and continued working long after he was retired.
He was preceded in death by his Parents and by his Grandson, Tony Georg.
Surviving are two Children: a Daughter, Constance Deal Georg and husband, Floyd, of Accident, Maryland, and Son, Gary R. Deal and his wife, Vickie, of Markleysburg, Pa.; Grandchildren: Shannon Meyers and husband John of Grantsville, Maryland, Stacey Rutter and husband Ray of Burgettstown, Pa., Anthony “Tony” Deal, Kenneth “Mike” Deal and Michelle Glisan all of Markleysburg, Pa.; and Great Grandchildren: Johnny, Zachary, Hunter and Toni Jo.
Friends will be received in the RODNEY S. TURNER FUNERAL HOME, 24 Main Street, Markleysburg, Pennsylvania, today (Monday, May 19, 2008) until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with Rev. Shirley Norman officiating.
Interment will follow in Addison Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded by the Grantsville American Legion Post 214.
Visitation was also held on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The Deal Family extends their thanks to all the wonderful staff at the South Fayette Nursing Center for the great job they did taking care of “Don”.
