Police file charges in road rage incident
GREENSBORO – State police will file multiple charges against a Mount Morris man after he and another suspect allegedly assaulted two men following a road rage incident Sunday night in Greensboro. Police said the incident occurred just before 9 p.m. when the suspect was involved in a traffic incident with James Hotsinpiller Jr. of Greensboro on Route 88 in Dilliner.
Trooper John Pash said after the incident occurred that the suspect, accompanied by another man, followed Hotsinpiller to his home where he assaulted Hotsinpiller.
Michael Brown of Smithfield tried to break up the fight but was pulled away and assaulted by the passenger in the suspect’s vehicle. The men then fled the scene, Pash said.
Hotsinpiller was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va., for medical treatment.
During the scuffle, Pash said the primary suspect dropped his driver’s license, which was subsequently turned over to police.
Pash said troopers immediately responded to the suspect’s home and arrived at the residence just as he was arriving.
He was taken into custody without incident.
Pash said the man will be charged with simple assault and driving under the influence of alcohol. Additionally, harassment charges are pending against the second man.
Their identities are being withheld pending the formalization of charges.
