Memorial Day parade set in Fairchance
The Alfred Wilson Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7219 in Fairchance will conduct its annual Memorial Day parade at 2:30 p.m. Saturday on West Church Street in Fairchance. The parade participants will begin forming at the bottom of Dry Knob Hill near the intersection with Fayette Street. The parade will then proceed east on West Church Street to the VFW at the intersection with North Main Street, where a memorial service and flagpole dedication will be held.
VFW Post 7219 Cmdr. Alan Ryan said combat veterans can bring their DD-214 papers to be registered for membership at the post.
Additionally, Ryan announced that the Fayette Central Railroad will be offering train rides to residents from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and at 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
