Record setting gas prices continue their climb in WesternPA. This week marks the eighth weekly record set since March 11, 2008. The current increase is 10 cents, bringing the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gasoline to $3.830 at the pump. Record setting gas prices continue their climb in WesternPA. According to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report, based on an oil price pushing toward $130 per barrel and a national average gasoline price reaching $3.80 per gallon today, AAA believes the trend for gasoline prices will continue to climb higher as the nation celebrates the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

Nearly 31.7 million Americans (83 percent of all holiday travelers) are expected to travel by automobile, a one percent decrease from the approximately 32 million people who drove a year ago.

Americans are feeling the effects of high gasoline prices combined with other negative economic conditions. Overall 37.8 million travelers anticipate kicking off the summer travel season this weekend with a trip of at least 50 miles from their homes.
