ASBURY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, corner of Beeson Avenue and Dunbar Street in Uniontown, announces Sunday’s more casual 9 a.m. worship service will include the Rev. Thomas Brown’s message “Don’t Worry, Be Happy,’ and praise choruses by song leader Barb Cruse and special music by Sharon Brown, piano. Get tickets Sunday to celebrate Memorial Day with the Asbury Church family at Idlewild Park and Soak Zone. The more traditional 11 a.m. service will include Brown’s message and special music by the Asbury Chancel Choir, Sharon Brown, flute and Jim Hutchinson, organist and director of music. At both services, children’s bulletins are available for ages three to six and seven to 12; large-print bulletins and tele-receivers are available for the hearing impaired. BETHEL BAPTIST CHURCH, 306 Edison St., Uniontown, will hold a children’s outreach on Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m., which will include a “hike to the cross.’ This event includes preschoolers, accompanied by an adult, through sixth-grade youths. Bryan Kelley bringing the message with Aaron Douthitt leading special music. MASONTOWN COMMUNITY KITCHEN, located in First Presbyterian Church, 102 W. Church Ave., Masontown, will serve its next meal on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. The Masontown Business and Professional Women’s association will provide the food and serve a supper of ham salad sandwiches, macaroni salad, potato chips and fruit cups. Take out meals will not be offered until after 6 p.m. The previous kitchen on May 13 served 259 bowls of homemade soup along with sandwiches. The community kitchen is open every other Tuesday and is funded by those attending the meal, local churches and individuals. Dinners are free but donations are accepted. MACRINA, Route 40, west of Uniontown, announces the Sisters of St. Basil will hold a Memorial Day tribute for the deceased buried at Mount Macrina Cemetery and for all deceased military personnel on Monday. A Divine Liturgy will be celebrated in the Monastery Chapel at 8 a.m. At 11 a.m. there will be a prayer service and a blessing of the graves at the cemetery. “This Memorial Day, we invite all family members and friends to Mount St. Macrina to remember their loved ones on this special occasion,’ said Sister Barbara Swindells, director of the Mount Macrina Cemetery.
