Uniontown police seek chase suspects

By Josh Krysak 2 min read

Uniontown police are trying to find an unidentified man who led officers on a high-speed chase through the city Friday morning. Uniontown police Officer Dave Hromada said the incident occurred at 1:56 a.m., when he saw a black sedan traveling toward him at a high rate of speed on Connellsville Street.

Hromada said the vehicle crossed the centerline and nearly struck his patrol vehicle. At that point, Hromada said he turned his car around and activated his lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the car.

A chase ensued on streets including Connellsville Street, Coolspring Street and Craig Street.

Hromada said on Craig Street, the driver of the car lost control of the vehicle, skidded through a lawn and struck a stop sign before continuing to flee from police.

The driver eventually made it to Hopwood-Coolspring Road and then Route 40, where Officer Ray Miller joined the pursuit, Hromada said.

The vehicle then came to a stop at a business on Route 40, and both the unidentified driver and passenger fled the scene on foot, Hromada said. Police were not able to catch them.

The driver was described as a black man, wearing all black clothing. The passenger was described as a light-skinned black woman, wearing jeans and a white T-shirt, Hromada said.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call police at 724-439-7111.
