Woman injured in Franklin Township crash

FRANKLIN TWP. – One woman suffered injuries when the car she was driving overturned on Route 51 in Franklin Township Tuesday morning. The woman, who was not identified, was trapped in the car after it overturned in the northbound lanes around 8:45 a.m.

According to volunteer firefighters at the scene, emergency crews freed her from the car and she was then taken by ambulance for treatment to Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Jefferson Hills, Allegheny County. Information on her condition was not available.

Firefighters said the woman’s car overturned after she traveled off the road and up an embankment near Pizon’s Bar.

Volunteer firefighters from Smock, Flatwoods and Perry Township joined emergency personnel from state police and Fayette EMS at the scene.
