State police file charges in chase

By Josh Krysak 2 min read

State police have filed multiple charges against a Carmichaels man accused of fleeing police following an attempted traffic stop Monday evening in Mather. Trooper John E. Pash said Bradley Joe Patterson, 23, was charged before Magisterial District Judge Louis M. Dayich with fleeing and eluding police, driving under the influence of alcohol, three counts of recklessly endangering another person, possession of marijuana and 22 traffic-related charges following the incident.

Pash said the incident began on First Street in Mather shortly after 8 p.m. when he started following Patterson’s vehicle after Patterson allegedly was speeding and ran a stop sign.

Pash said he activated his emergency lights and siren in an attempt to pull Patterson’s vehicle over.

At that point, Patterson’s vehicle accelerated and an eight-minute high-speed pursuit ensued on dozens of streets and roads in Jefferson and Clarksville, Pash said.

He said the pursuit ended when Patterson’s vehicle stalled on Polly Avenue in Clarskville where Patterson was taken into custody.

Pash said troopers had to use a TASER gun to subdue Patterson.

During a search, Pash said he found marijuana in Patterson’s pants pocket.

Patterson was placed in the Greene County Prison on $10,000 straight cash bond.

A preliminary hearing is set for June 5 before Dayich.
