Clarence Thomas “Tommy” Umble, also known as “Jake”, age 35, of Smithfield, Pa., died Saturday, August 30, 2008, in the… Clarence Thomas “Tommy” Umble, also known as “Jake”, age 35, of Smithfield, Pa., died Saturday, August 30, 2008, in the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia, as the result of a motor vehicle accident.

Born on August 27, 1973, in Uniontown, Pa., he was the son of William R. “Bill” Umble and Patty Keene Umble of Smithfield, Pa.

A 1992 graduate of Albert Gallatin High School, he was a heavy equipment operator for Laurel Aggregates in Lake Lynn and a member of the Operating Engineers Union.

A wonderful and caring person, “Tommy” enjoyed hunting and fishing, riding his ATV, and playing softball.

He especially spent as much time as possible with his children and nieces and nephews, whom he loved so much! He will surely be missed by his family and many friends.

In addition to his loving parents, he is survived by his three children: Jacinda Lynn, Collin Thomas and Meagan Ann Umble all of Point Marion, Pa.; a brother, William F. Umble and his wife Joyce, and sister, Tammy Umble Hymes and her husband Robert Hymes, all of Smithfield; his fiancee, Shelly Whoolery and her mother, Lois Whoolery, of Uniontown, Pa.; his paternal grandparents, Orville and Betty Umble of Smithfield, Pa.; nephews and nieces: William Hymes, Stephanie Hymes, Hannah Jo Umble, Sara Walls and Avery Walls; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Frank and Nina Keene, and an uncle for whom he was named, Clarence Doty.

Friends will be received in the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion, Pa., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, September 3, 2008, until 1:30 p.m., the hour of Service with Rev. George McLaughlin officiating.

Interment follows in the Doty Family Cemetery, Lake Lynn, Pa.
