Born February 17, 1945, in… Marvin Russell Murphy, 63, of Grantsville, MD died Sunday, August 31, 2008 in his home.

Born February 17, 1945, in Swanton, MD, he was the son of the late Glen and Grace (Handwerk) Murphy. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Alvin.

Mr. Murphy was a tire builder for Kelly Springfield Tires and then was a custodian for the Garrett County Board of Education where he retired from. He was a United

States Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War and a member of the Church of God.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Beverly Ann (Sines) Murphy, whom he married on November 26, 1966; two sons: Marvin Glen Murphy and Michael Sean Murphy, both of Frederick, MD and a sister, Thelma Brant, McHenry, MD.

Friends will be received at NEWMAN FUNERAL HOMES, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, MD on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Owen H. Preston officiating. Interment will be held in the Murphy Cemetery.
