Uniontown man faces trial on sex charges
A Uniontown man accused of engaging in sex acts with a 17-year-old girl on two occasions will have his day in court following a preliminary hearing Tuesday. Uniontown police Detective Donald M. Gmitter said David L. Christopher, 39, of 26 Hortense St. was charged earlier this month before Magisterial District Judge Wendy D. Dennis with two felony counts of aggravated indecent assault, three counts of indecent assault and two counts of corruption of minors.
According to Gmitter, the charges were filed after Christopher forced the alleged victim to engage in multiple sex acts with him on two separate occasions in Uniontown beginning in mid-July.
During a preliminary hearing Tuesday before Senior Magisterial District Judge Michael Rubish, the alleged victim told Fayette County Assistant District Attorney Jack R. Heneks Jr. that she repeatedly told Christopher to stop and didn’t immediately tell her family about the incidents because she was scared and “didn’t know what to do.”
In the criminal complaint filed in the case, Gmitter said Christopher inappropriately touched the alleged victim in mid-July and performed a sexual act with her. Gmitter said the girl told police that Christopher again forced himself on her at a different location in Uniontown Aug. 6.
After the second incident, Gmitter said the girl told her parents what allegedly had occurred and they contacted police.
The Herald-Standard does not identify the alleged victims of sexual assault.
All but one of the assault charges against Christopher were bound for Fayette County Court following Tuesday’s hearing and Rubish denied a request for a bond reduction.
Christopher remains in the Fayette County Prison on $50,000 straight cash bond.
