John Joseph Olech
John Joseph Olech, age 86, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 6, 2008, at home. He was born on June 22, 1922, in Cardale, Pa., the son of Andrew and Mary Olech.
John was a member of Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church on Old Walnut Hill Road in Uniontown.
John proudly served his country during World War II with the United States Army.
He retired from the United States Steel Corporation after 42 years as a Coal Mining Foreman at the Robena Mine.
He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America, the Fairbank Rod and Gun Club and The Polish Club.
A very gifted craftsman and woodworker and also an avid sportsman, John will be remembered by his Family and Friends for his generous and thoughtful soul, eager to help everyone no matter what they needed. He loved creating beautiful things and the joy that it brought to others.
John was preceded in death by his parents and also by his beloved wife, Louise Marie (Kuznar) Olech on June 4, 1981.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Robert J. “Bob” Olech and wife Janice of Martinsville, Indiana, Jerry J. Olech and wife Ann of Uniontown, Pa., and Barry J. Olech at home; six grandchildren: Bobby Olech and wife Monica of Uniontown, Pa., Kevin Olech of North Carolina, Ryan Olech and wife Jessica of Georgia, Kristen Poparad and husband Bob of Maryland, Michael Olech and Erica Olech both of Uniontown, Pa.; great grandsons: A. J. Olech of Uniontown, Pa., Hunter Olech of Georgia and Peyton Joseph Jones of Uniontown, Pa.; and special friend for many years, Liz Marziak of Fredericktown, Pa. He also leaves behind his beloved poodle, “Co Co”.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC., 603 North Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, Pa., on Tuesday, September 9, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, September 10, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.
