John Joseph Olech

John Joseph Olech, 86, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at home. He was born on June 22, 1922, in Cardale, Pa., son of Andrew and Mary Olech, who preceded him in death.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Louise Marie (Kuznar) Olech on June 4, 1981.

John was a member of Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Walnut Hill Road, Uniontown, Pa. He proudly served his country during

World War II with the United States Army, and retired from United States Steel Corporation after 42 years, a Coal Mining Foreman at the Robena Mine. He was a member of United Mine Workers of America, the Fairbank Rod and Gun Club, and the Polish Club.

A very gifted craftsmen and woodworker, and avid sportsman, John is remembered by his family and friends for his generous and thoughtful soul, eager to help everyone no matter what they needed. He loved creating beautiful things, and the joy that it brought to others.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Robert J. “Bob” Olech and wife, Janice of Martinsville, Indiana, Jerry J. Olech and wife, Ann of Uniontown, Pa. and Barry J. Olech at home; six grandchildren: Bobby Olech and wife, Monica of Uniontown, Pa., Kevin Olech of North Carolina, Ryan Olech and wife, Jessica of Georgia, Kristen Poparad and husband, Bob of Maryland and Michael Olech and Erica Olech, both of Uniontown, Pa.; three great-grandsons: A.J. Olech of Uniontown, Pa., Hunter Olech of Georgia and Peyton Joseph Jones of Uniontown, Pa.; and special friend for many years, Liz Marziak of Frederick-town, Pa. He also leaves behind his beloved poodle, “Co Co”.

Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 603 N. Gallatin Ave., Ext., Uniontown, Pa. today, from 7-9 p.m., Wednesday 2-4 and 6-9 p.m, and on Thursday, September 11, 2008.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Father Matthew Brozovic as celebrant.

Interment will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery, Hopwood, Pa., where military honors will be accorded

St. Joseph Parish Family Vigil by the Ministry of Consolation will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 3:15 p.m.
