Georges Township supervisors announce paving plans

2 min read

“We were waiting until public sewerage was fully installed. “It wouldn’t make any sense for us to repave the roads and then have them tore up,” Supervisor Mike Bartock said.

Supervisors said the sewer lines were installed last year and that the roads will be repaved as soon as money becomes available.

Hustead Heights’ residents have recently complained about the condition of the roads, saying they would like to see something done.

Ron Clark, who lives at 300 Shirley Lane in Hustead Heights, spoke at Tuesday’s meeting on behalf of several residents.

Clark said there are areas in Hustead Heights where the roads have cracked and grass is growing up through the pavement.

Clark said he realizes the township has a budget it must follow but asked that money to repave the roads be budgeted for next year.

Supervisors said it would cost about $32,000 to repave the roads in Hustead Heights, adding that they would consider working it into next year’s budget.

Supervisors said the township will patch holes in the roads as well as possible and will be doing work to the curbs within the next several weeks.

As for other matters, supervisors announced Fall Cleanup for all township residents will be held Oct. 6 through Oct. 10.

Supervisors said residents are to put any items that need collected out with their garbage on their normal garbage day.

Bartock said the garbage hauler will not collect batteries, tires, automobile parts, paint or construction materials.
