Frances G. Rock Coppolino

Frances G. Rock Coppolino, 88, of Boals-burg, died Friday, September 12, 2008, at the Fairways of Brookline Nursing Care, State College, Pa. She was born November l, 1919, in Greensburg, Pa., the daughter of the late Mike and Elizabeth Vranik Rock.

On October 28, 1944 she married John B. Coppolino, who survives in Boalsburg.

In addition to her husband she is survived by a son, John A. Coppolino and his wife Joyce A. Marshall of Port Matilda; a daughter, Jeanne Snyder and her husband Kenneth R. of Cedar Rapids Iowa; a brother Carl Rock and his companion Doris Shusko of Slickville, Pa.; three sisters, Margaret Farrell of Mt. Pleasant, Pa., Betty Hoffman of Marinette, Wisc. and Mildred Surk of Menominee, Mich.; five grandchildren; Eric Snyder of Port Matilda, Nikki Murphy of State College, Carolyn Snyder of State College, Chris Snyder of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Jennifer Coppolino of Pittsburgh, and seven great grandchildren.

Frances and her husband John were co-owners of the Jay Bee Landscape Nursery in Boalsburg until 1971. Then she worked as a clerk at O.W. Houts Store as well as being a clerk at the Penn State University Poultry Department. She also worked as a seamstress at On The Diamond Bridal Shop of Boalsburg.

Mrs. Coppolino was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church where she ran the baked goods stand of the church bizarre and also was a member and past president of the Centre “9” Bowling League. She was a volunteer for Special Olympics and a former den mother for Cub Scouts and a troop leader for the Girl Scouts. Her favorite hobby was knitting and crocheting.

THERE WILL BE NO PUBLIC VISITATION.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, September 16 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College with Msgr. David Lockhard officiating. Everyone please meet at the Church. Private interment will be at Centre County Memorial Park.
