Supervisors award 1 of 4 construction contracts
Supervisors awarded Stefanick Construction Inc. of Dunbar a $155,380 contract to build two pumping stations. The two other bids submitted were $189,213 and $278,520.
Bids for all four contracts were opened Sept. 9 and the supervisors continued that meeting to Monday to award the contracts.
However, supervisors agreed Monday to advertise for new bids for the electrical work and distribution line installation contracts because the electrical bids exceeded the project budget and the line bids contained the incorrect number of taps.
Bids for the line ranged from about $206,000 to $374,000 and the electrical bids ranged from about $222,000 to $315,000, said Arthur Brower of Fayette Engineering.
Supervisors will open the new electrical and line bids Oct. 6 and award the contracts Oct. 7.
Next month’s supervisors meeting was rescheduled to Oct. 7 from Oct. 14 to award the contracts.
The contract to build two 60,000-gallon water storage tanks also will be awarded on Oct. 7, supervisors said.
The project will provide water service to about 50 existing and planned homes, Brower said.
Supervisors said work would start after all the contracts are awarded. The township received an $800,000 grant from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for the project and used two state grants totaling $167,000 and $100,000 in Community Development Block Grant money for the required match
