?Burn After Reading?

2 min read

Looking for a comedy to take your mind off the problems of the day? Well, ?Burn After Reading? just might be the ticket. I saw it last Sunday and enjoyed it tremendously. Of course, be forwarned, it?s another movie made by the Coen Brothers, Joel and Ethan, and not everyone appreciates their quirky sense of humor. It?s certainly nothing like their starkly violent thriller, ?No Country for Old Men,? which was an Academy Award winner last year. but if you?ve enjoyed some of their other movies like ?Fargo? and ?The Big Lebowski? then you?re in for a treat.

The movie is set in Washington D.C. and looks like an espionage thriller, except that the spying uncovers no significant information and everyone is clueless. But the characters are all easy to like despite their lack of any brains, The cast is clearing having a blast, and what a cast it is. There?s John Malkovich, as a fired CIA analyst whose memoirs fall into the wrong hands, Frances McDormand as a gym trainer trying to redo her body with countless plastic surgeries and Brad Pitt as an overgrown child of a gym trainer whose bungled schemes get him in way over his head.

All in all, it?s a great way to escape these troubled times for a couple of hours.
