Council announces Wellness Day

3 min read

The event is intended to enhance the professional and personal qualities of frontline workers. Anyone in Fayette County working for a human service agency or any other organization may register for a day of professional and personal development to bolster their spirits and inspire them in the difficult tasks they face every day, a spokesman for the council said.

“It was a wonderful experience both professionally and personally,” said Tammy Knouse, chairwoman of the Fayette County Human Service Council and participant of the first annual Professional Development Day.

Knouse added that the workshops can benefit people by reducing stress and helping with burnout.

Currently, more than 100 frontline workers participate in events sponsored by the council every year. For more information or to register for the event, call 724-425-1818 or visit online at www.fayettehumanservicecouncil.org

. Registrations should be made no later than Friday.

The agenda opens with registration from 8 to 9 a.m. and a continental breakfast.

Workshop A, “Peace of Mind Is Possible: How to Create an Organizing System that Works Best For You,” is an interactive workshop that will provide participants with insight and inspiration to help guide them on a meaningful journey to more peaceful, productive days at work and at home, a human services council spokesman said. The presenter will be Cheryl A. Lowitzer, owner and founder, Your Organizing Guru, LLC.

Workshop B, “Good Fences Make Good Neighbors” – Self Care and the Professional Boundary in Human Services,” will be presented by Dr. Elizabeth A. Winter.

“One of the most effective ways of taking care of yourself (and your client) is to use good professional boundaries. We’ll talk about what the professional boundary is and how it can help protect everyone involved, how to recognize when we’re in dual roles, and how to make good decisions about boundaries in difficult situations,” Winter said.

Workshops A and B will be held from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. and again from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. so everyone has an opportunity to attend.

Lunch will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

“Wrapping it Up and Putting it All Together-Feng Shui,” will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. The presenter will be Ann Trump, co-creator, illustrator, co-author of The Saint Deck and The Saint Deck Book.

“Leave this presentation with a basic understanding of Feng Shui and how it can help you achieve better health, lasting wealth and inner happiness,” Trump said.

There is a fee to attend the event.
