Public invited to tour Mon-Fayette Expressway link
The commission will host a “Community Day on the Expressway” event on Saturday, Oct. 11, to offer the public a preview of the project prior to its scheduled opening later this year. In partnership with the Fayette Chamber of Commerce, Steps to a Healthier Fayette County, the National Road Heritage Corridor and its construction manager TCMS-Maguire, the commission invites folks to “Step, Stride, Glide, Ride” on the road before it opens to traffic.
Community Day will be held on the new mainline in the vicinity of the Searights Crossroads interchange in Menallen Township.
People are welcome to stroll or bicycle on the road or take a bus tour. The event also will include food vendors, informational booths and a children’s area featuring balloon art and a trackless train.
Steps to a Healthier Fayette County will sponsor a Family Fun Walk beginning at 9 a.m. Visit the Web site www.stepstoahealthierfayettecounty.org
