Edith Sue Kilroy Standish
Edith Sue (Kilroy) Standish, age 72, of Masontown, Pa., passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2008, in Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown, Pa. She was born August 24, 1936, in Brownsville, Pa., the Daughter of James Kilroy and Edith (Richie) Kilroy.
Edith graduated from Brownsville High School in 1954 and from California States Teachers College (now California University of Pennsylvania) in 1957.
She was employed as a Speech Therapist for 34 years by Intermediate Unit One.
She was a member of All Saints Roman Catholic Church, The Confraternity of Christian Mothers, Ladies of Charity, and the RCIA Team.
She did volunteer work at Saint Vincent DePaul Society.
Edith was preceded in death by her Parents, by her Husband of 35 years, George R. Standish, and two infant Daughters, Anna and Amanda
Edith was a very devoted Mother and greatly beloved Grandmother and Friend!
She is survived by Sons: Larry and wife JoAnn of Washington, Pa., Matthew of Chicago, Illinois, Jeffery of Masontown, Pa., and Joseph and wife Cheryl of Masontown, Pa.; Grandchildren: Mikey, George, Jamie, Sarah, Nicholas, Michael, Natalie and Jacob; her Sister, Patricia Redigan and husband Marty of Brownsville, Pa.; two Sisters-in-Law: Sally Darr of West Virginia and Sophie Mullen of Maryland; and many Nieces and Nephews.
Friends will be received in the JOHN S. MAYKUTH JR. FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and River Avenue, Masontown, Pa., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, September 24, 2008, until 9:30 a.m. when a Prayer Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in All Saints Roman Catholic Church, Masontown, with the Rev. Father John M. Butler as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Saint Mary’s Orthodox Cemetery, Masontown, Pa.
Parish Wake Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
The Christian Mothers will recite the Rosary at 3:15 p.m.
