Car strikes teenage boy
City police said the Uniontown boy, who was not identified, darted into traffic accompanied by his cousin and was struck by a vehicle driven by William DeShields of Uniontown. Officer Frederick Kampert said the collision occurred shortly after 6 p.m. near the intersection with Stewart Avenue.
Kampert said the boy was taken to Uniontown Hospital for treatment of injuries to his tailbone.
He noted that it did not appear that the teen’s injuries were serious.
Kampert said that three witnesses to the collision told police that the boys darted into traffic in front of DeShields’ vehicle and told police that DeShields tried to stop to avoid hitting the teen.
Kampert said skid marks on the road verify eyewitness accounts.
He said no charges will be filed against DeShields.
