Harry B. Yauger, Sr.
Harry B. Yauger, Sr., age 87, of Uniontown, Pa., died on Tuesday, September 23, 2008, in the Uniontown Hospital. He was born on July 24, 1921, in Mount Independence, Pa., son of Clyde P. and Victoria (Gallik) Yauger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife of 58 years, Elaine R. (Svec) Yauger on May 4, 2000; two brothers and four sisters, Virginia Lyons, Leo Yauger, Donald L. Yauger, Betty Crayton Wilkovich, Helen Yauger, and Shirley Guerrieri.
Harry was a member of St. Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Indiana during World War II, and was a member of the American Legion Post 51. He was a self-employed Stone Mason for over 40 years, and worked for Gerome Manufacturing Company for ten years before he retired.
Left to cherish his memory are ten children: Richard Yauger and wife Nancy of Greenville, Pa., Harry Yauger, Jr. and wife Vicki of Saratoga, Calif., Don Yauger and wife Cindy of Cary, N.C., Patti Volner and husband Bill of Titusville, Fla., Ray Yauger and wife Regina of Roswell, Ga., Joanne Amin and husband Ahmed of North Attleboro, Ma., Dolores Hutnick and husband Nick of Uniontown, Pa., Karen Wymard and husband Jeff of Radnor, Pa., Kevin Yauger and wife Janet of Uniontown, Pa., Tom Yauger of Corte Madira, Calif.; 21 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 603 North Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Friday, September 26, 2008, until 9:15 a.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in Saint Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father Micah E. Kozoil as Celebrant.
Interment will be held at Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa, where Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion, Post 51 and Faith-Gray-McArdle Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 4584.
The Parish Wake Service will be held today at 2:30 p.m.
