ASBURY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, corner of Beeson Avenue and Dunbar Street in Uniontown, announces Sunday’s more casual 9 a.m. worship service will include the Rev. Thomas Brown’s sermon “Are You and Christ Like-Minded?” and praise choruses by song leader Paul and Barb Cramer and special music by pianist Sharon Brown. Fall Christian education classes have a new schedule at 9:45 a.m. with children through third grade meeting in the nursery, the new youth class “The Amazing (Bible) Race” for grades six to eight meeting in the room above the sanctuary and grades nine to 12 in the room above the library. On Wednesday, Solid Grounds Café will have its grand opening. Solid Grounds is a newly converted game room that features ping pong, air hockey, pool, foosball in a café-style setting. A newly renovated library is also available for students to complete homework assignments in a quiet atmosphere. MASONTOWN COMMUNITY KITCHEN, located in First Presbyterian Church, 102 W. Church Ave., Masontown, will serve its next meal on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. The menu will be ham salad sandwiches, pea salad, Panera breads and desserts. The last meal was held Sept. 16 when 189 dishes of Mexican chicken were served. The United Mine Workers of America contributed macaroni salad. Steve Andrasky contributed a new Rival meat slicer and a monetary gift. The community kitchen, open every other Tuesday, is operated by volunteers and most churches of every denomination in the surrounding locale. Dinners are free but donations are accepted.
