Harry G. Eberts
Harry G. Eberts, 83 of Claridge, formerly of Star Junction, died Friday, September 26, 2008 in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg with family at his side. He was born December 17, 1924 in Star Junction, a son of William L. and Mabel (Ervin) Eberts.
Prior to his retirement, Harry was employed as an office supervisor for (the former) West Penn Power Company of Connellsville.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army. He was a member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 0659 and the West Penn Veterans. Harry loved to dance and enjoyed playing cards.
In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray G. Eberts and John W. Eberts; a sister Betty Miller, a son Arnold Leapline and a grandson Johnny Kranik.
Harry is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Ernestine (Martin) Leapline Eberts; their children: David G. Eberts and his wife Debbi of Belle Vernon, William L. Eberts and wife, Charlene, of Bethel, Jayne Kranik of Belle Vernon, Janice Shippy and husband Dale of Kansas and Lisa Sementuh and husband Dave of Claridge; brothers and sisters: Eleanor Rusnik of California, Pa., Charles M. Eberts of Star Junction, Donald Eberts of Youngstown, Ohio, Wilda M. Reho of Star Junction, Bonnie Kostelnik of Virginia and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a loving grand-father to all of his grand-children and great-grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, Pa. 15626 (724) 468-1177. Funeral services for Harry will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Funeral Home with Mike Hazelton of the Hempfield Church of Christ, officiating.
Interment with full military honors accorded by VFW Post 33 Honor Guard, Greensburg, will follow in the Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
