Westmoreland County man dies in Fayette accident
State police said Joseph William Baker of Scottdale was ejected from the vehicle when it crashed on Everson Valley Road at 12:55 a.m. Trooper Eric Zona said the accident occurred as Baker was attempting to round a left curve and lost control of his vehicle, noting that speed is believed to be a factor.
Zona indicated in a news release that the vehicle, a 1992 Honda Accord, crashed into the embankment on the north edge of the road and then flipped.
Police said Baker was not wearing a seatbelt when the accident occurred.
Baker was ejected from the vehicle when it flipped and was thrown more than a 100 feet, according to police.
Zona said Baker was found on the road 150 feet west of the point where the vehicle first crashed into the embankment.
Baker was transported by Mutual Aid Ambulance Service to Frick Hospital in Mount Pleasant and was later pronounced dead, police said.
