Michael A. Miske, 61, of California, PA, died Saturday, September 27, 2008 following a brief illness. He was born Sunday, April 6, 1947, in Merrittstown, PA, a son of Mary (Mihalovich) Miske and the late Joseph A. Miske.

Mike proudly served his country in the 101st Airborne during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of the Republic American Legion and was best known for the California Army Navy Store and his weekly set up at local flea markets. He loved to golf and he enjoyed playing cards, especially three-card poker.

In addition to his father, Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Donna (Burrie) Miske on May 14, 1994, one sister, Joanne Gullo and one brother, Frank Miske.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Mary Catherine Miske of Tower Hill 2; two daughters: Cecelia Miske of Brownsville, PA, and Tiffany Miske of California, PA; a son, Michael A. Miske Jr. of Brownsville, PA; brother, Anthony “Tom” Miske of Sarasota, Fla; brother, Joseph Miske and wife, Maryann of Brookpark, OH; sister, Rosemary Smetanka and husband, John of Perryopolis, PA; brother, Thomas “Tim” Miske and wife, Connie of Tower Hill 2; brother, Steven Miske and wife, Kitty of Tower Hill 2, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the MARISCOTTI FUNERAL HOME, INC., Anthony N. Mariscotti, Supervisor, 323 Fourth Street, California, PA on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., and until 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2008, when a blessing service will be held in the funeral home followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas Aquinas RC Church with Fr. George Moneck as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery.
