1 min read

A West Virginia man had a suppression hearing continued Tuesday because he may enter a plea to resolve the matter. The hearing for William Blair Craver IV, 26, of Charleston, was supposed to be held before Fayette County Judge Gerald R. Solomon. A plea date has not yet been set. Craver was charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence of alcohol, aggravated assault while DUI, homicide by vehicle and DUI. Additionally, he received four traffic citations.

Craver was allegedly driving a car on Sugar Loaf Road in Stewart Township around 10:15 a.m. July 13 when his car hit into two trees, killing Jeffrey V. Pokopec, a passenger in his vehicle.

State police alleged that Craver’s car first hit a guardrail after he lost control of the car.

Pokopec, 39, was trapped in the car for more than one hour while emergency crews tried to free him. He was pronounced dead at the scene around noon.

Craver suffered minor injuries in the crash, police have said.
