FBI: Suspect in W.Va. robbery may be from Uniontown
BRUCETON MILLS, W.Va. – The FBI in Pittsburgh is investigating an armed robbery at a bank in Bruceton Mills, W.Va., which has possible ties to Fayette County. FBI spokesman Bill Crowley said investigators believe that the suspect in the robbery might be from the Uniontown area. Crowley said the robbery occurred around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at WesBanco Bank on Route 73 in Bruceton Mills.
Crowley said the suspect entered the bank wearing a black ski mask and brandishing a silver revolver and immediately announced his presence to all the people inside the bank.
“It is what we call a takeover robbery in that he announced he was there and did not just pass a note or talk to a single teller,” Crowley said. “He was very aggressive.”
Crowley said employees gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash and he then fled the building.
Crowley said it was not clear if he fled the parking lot on foot or in a vehicle.
The FBI is offering a $1,000 cash reward for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the suspect.
