Helen Petruska

Helen Petruska, 83, passed away at the Washington County Health Center, Washington, Pa., on Tuesday, April 14, 2009. She was born in Mahanoy City, Pa., on November 6, 1926, the daughter of Andrew and Mary Ciparick Petruska.

She attended St. Canicus Elementary School and graduated from Mahanoy City public high school. In 1955, the entire family moved to McKeesport, Pa.

Helen was a gourmet cook. She volunteered her services at the McKeesport Hospital for many years. She was a licensed practical nurse for about 15 years. Upon retiring she moved to the Senior Citizens Building in Canonsburg, Pa. About four years ago, she became a guest at the Washington County Health Center.

She was predeceased by her parents and by a sister, Margaret Petruska in 2007.

She is survived by her sisters: Sister Maria Petruska of Mt. St. Macrina, Uniontown, Pa., and Theresa Ortmann and husband William of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and her brothers: Andrew of Bristol Conn., the Rev. Gregory Petruska, retired priest of the Archeparchy of Pittsburgh, and the Rev. Christopher Petruska, retired priest of the Eparchy of Passaic both residing in Bellflower, Calif.; as well as, nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the KEZMARSKY FUNERAL HOME, 71 Pennsylvania Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., Friday, April 17, 2009, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Parastas Services will be held on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the Funeral Home.

On Saturday, April 18, 2009, friends and family are asked to go directly to the Motherhouse Chapel of Mt. St. Macrina, Uniontown, for The Bright Week Funeral Liturgy which will be held at 10:30 a.m.

Interment will be in Mt. St. Macrina Cemetery.
