All competitors considered ‘winners’ in cake and cookie contest

When Darin Myers of Myers Catering judged the Hershey Chocolate Cake and Cookie Contest on Sunday at the Fayette County Fair, he said he found himself impressed with all the entries. “The cakes were all delicious – the cookies, everything,” he said. “I, myself, think you’re all winners.” In the end, Melissa Miciotto of Smock took first place in the chocolate cake competition, followed by Jessica Zele of Uniontown in second place and Kelly Miner of Mill Run in third. The cookie contest results included Casey Hawk of East Millsboro in first place, followed by Emily Diamond of Smithfield in second and Nolan Miner of Mill Run in third.

Meanwhile, results for the angel food cake competition held Saturday included Patricia Vitez of Lemont Furnace, first place; Amy Foster of Ohiopyle, second place; and Joseph Foster of Ohiopyle, third place.

Results for the apple pie contest, also held Saturday, found Clara Dean Delaney of Uniontown in first place, Carrie Hawk of East Millsboro, second; Jessica Zele of Uniontown, third; Paul Micheck of Brownsville, fourth; and Katherine Smith of Leisenring, fifth.
