2 min read

DUNBAR TWP. – A Connellsville man suffered severe injuries when his pickup truck and another pickup collided at the intersection of Ridge Boulevard and Route 201 in Dunbar Township early Monday. State police said Jesse Ansell, 62, was flown from the scene by medical helicopter to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh following the crash. Hospital officials declined to release information on the condition of Ansell on Monday afternoon but confirmed that was still being treated in the emergency room.

According to police, Ansell was traveling northbound on Route 201 at 5:20 a.m. when his 2001 GMC Sierra collided with a 1996 Dodge Ram driven by Robert Stringer Jr., 49, also of Connellsville.

Police said the crash occurred after Stringer’s vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign.

Police said Stringer’s truck crashed into a tree following the collision and Ansell’s pickup overturned into a ditch.

Volunteer firefighters at the scene had to work to free Ansell from the overturned truck.

Police said Stringer was taken by ambulance to Highlands Hospital in Connellsville for minor injuries.

State police were assisted at the scene by volunteer firefighters from Morrell, DL&V, Dunbar, Monarch, New Haven Hose Company and Connellsville Township as well as emergency personnel from Fayette EMS.
