Martin Joseph Karas, 29 years, of Springhill Township, Point Marion, Pennsylvania died suddenly on Sunday, August 2, 2009. He was born August 27, 1979 in Pittsburgh, Pa., the son of Martin John Karas and Cheryl Whoolery Karas of Shoaf, Pa.

Martin was employed as a Miner at the Cumberland Mine and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America Local 2300.

He loved to hunt and was a very hard worker!

Martin was a most loving Husband, Father, Son and Brother to his Family.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Martin John Karas Sr., and nephew, Anthony Davis.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, Martin and Cheryl Karas, are his wife, Gina Stefancin Karas; daughters: Abigail Marie Karas and Amber Lynn Karas; sisters: Jennifer Davis and husband Daniel, Ralph, Pa., and Denise Lipscomb and husband Tim, New Salem, Pa.; nephews and niece: Ethan Davis, Emilie Davis, Jonathan Lipscomb and Timothy Lipscomb; his grandparents: Charles and Alverta Whoolery and Elizabeth Karas all of Shoaf, Pa.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Terry and Lucina Elentri Stefancin of Uniontown, Pa.; brother-in-law Terry Stefancin Jr.; and his grandparents-in-law: Tom and Jean Stefancin and Elizabeth Elentri.

Family will receive Friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Visitation will continue on Thursday, August 6, 2009, in SHOAF FREE METHODIST CHURCH, Smiley Road, Shoaf, Pa., from 10 until 11 a.m. Services begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Kenny Rockwell officiating.

Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Fairchance.
