Education briefs LH plans tour
Laurel Highlands Middle School will host a self-guided tour for incoming 6th-grade students and new students and their parents from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20. Homeroom assignments will be posted at this time. Uniontown lists information Thomas Colebank, principal of Uniontown Area High School, has announced information regarding the first day of school for the 2009-10 school year.
All students, including those who will attend the Fayette County Area Vocational-Technical School, are reminded to report for the first day of classes on Monday, Aug. 24.
Students are to report directly to homeroom, which will begin at 7:35 a.m. Student will be dismissed at 2:37 p.m.
Homeroom rosters, along with the vo-tech bus list, will be posted on the auditorium doors beginning Tuesday, Aug. 18. All student schedules will be distributed during homeroom on the first day of classes.
Students may purchase lunches on the first day of school. Full lunch price is $1.50 and reduced lunch price is 40 cents.
Any student planning to attend the high school this term who has not registered should do so immediately in the high school office between 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Bus schedules and stops will be announced prior to the opening of school.
New student orientation will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21 in the cafeteria. Parents are welcome to attend.
