State police holds annual ‘Camp Cadet’
State police in Troop B, which includes Greene and Fayette counties, recently held its annual Camp Cadet in Beaver County. This was the 21st year for the camp, which took place between July 12 and 18. There were 42 participants between the ages of 12 and 14 from Greene, Fayette, Washington, Allegheny and a portion of Westmoreland counties.
One of the Greene County participants, Sajorden Miller, was named co-cadet of the year.
Fayette County participant Luther Wormack received the athletic achievement award. Travis Mills was named best in drill and Mark Kelly was named guidon. Both are also from Fayette County.
The camp is designed to bring a better understanding of law enforcement activities while living in the atmosphere of a state police training school.
Instructors place emphasis on personal development skills such as self-discipline, teamwork and socialization.
Greene County resident Austin Sloan also attended the camp.
The camp was held at Linsly Outdoor Center adjacent to Raccoon State Park in Beaver County.
