Foundation announces 2009 awards
Community Foundation of Fayette County Executive Director Clara L. Pascoe recently announced the recipients of the foundation’s 2009 educational awards for Fayette County students. The awards were made possible through individuals and families who have established funds to provide tuition support to Fayette County students pursuing post-secondary education. Contributions can be made at any time to existing scholarship funds and new funds are always welcome, according to Pascoe.
Additional tuition assistance awards for kindergarten- through grade 12-students were made possible through the foundation’s participation in the state Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Program designed to help defray the cost of attending private or parochial schools.
In 2009, the foundation distributed approximately $61,000 toward 47 scholarships for college-bound or college-attending students, as well as 108 EITC tuition-assistance awards.
