Pearl Zivkovich
Pearl Zivkovich, 83 of Pittsburgh, Pa. and formerly of Fairmont, W. Va., died August 6, 2009 at UPMC Passavant Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born January 18, 1926 in West Wilmerding, Pa., a daughter of the late Nikola and Stana (Kosich) Simulia.
Mrs. Zivkovich was a 1943 graduate of Turtle Creek High School and was trained as a Registered Nurse at Braddock Pa. General Hospital. She was employed at Braddock General Hospital, Fairmont General Hospital, and Fairmont Clinic. She was a member of the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church of Carmichaels, Pa. where she was honored as Kuma for the Circle of Serbian Sisters (KOLO) in the 1980’s. She was an avid fan of the Mountaineers as well as the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates.
Surviving are two sons: George Zivkovich and wife, Mary Jane of Parkersburg, W. Va. and their daughter, Dr. Anna Zivkovich of Dayton, Ohio, Mark Zivkovich and wife, Eileen and their son, Gregory Zivkovich of Pittsburgh; sister, Sue Anderson and husband, Walter of Lexington, N. C.; son-in-law, John McIntosh of New Jersey and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eli Zivkovich, daughter, Cathy Ann Zivkovich and brother, Victor Simulia.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. today at the ST. GEORGE SERBIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH, 296 Old Route 21 Rd., Carmichaels, Pa. where funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. on Monday, August 10, 2009. The Very Rev. Dr. Rodney Torbic will officiate.
Interment will follow in St. George Serbian Orthodox Cemetery. The Pomen will be held at 7:00 P.M. today in the Church.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
