John E. Chambers Sr.
John E. Chambers Sr., age 82, of Carmichaels, Pa. died on August 10, 2009 at his home. He was born on November 21, 1926 at Sunshine, Fayette Co. Pa., the son of the late Dominic and Josephine Bartley Chambers.
On April 12, 1947, John married Cecelia Manchas Chambers who survives.
Also surviving are: three daughters: Bernadette Revak (Michael), Uniontown, Pa., Loretta Malinosky (Robert), Carmichaels and Suzanne Boyle (William), Hopwood; one son, John E. Chambers Jr. (Zoe), Carmichaels and a beloved nephew: Kenneth Murray (Donnell), Lexington, Ky.; nine grandchildren: Michael John Revak, Jennifer Malinosky Ludrosky, Stacey Chambers Varoli, Elizabeth Chambers, Joshua, Celene, and Lucas Boyle and Robert and Rikki Murray; three great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; two sisters: Angeline Hoon, Uniontown, Agnes Vassilo, Brownsburg, Ind., one brother, Anthony Chambers (Carolyn), Painesville, Ohio.
A grandson, Adam Chambers is deceased.
John served in the United States Air Force at the end of World War II.
He worked at United States Steel’s Robena Mine as a miner and the Maple Creek Mine as a Foreman for 25 years and retired from the Mine Safety and Health Administration as a Federal Mine Investigator after 22 years. John was involved in Mine Rescue and First Aid for 35 years. He was a member and later trainer of MSHA Mine Rescue Teams, and was the First Chief Judge of the National Mine Rescue Bench Competition
Friends will be received in the LESAKO FUNERAL HOME, INC., Paul M. Lesako, Funeral Director/Supervisor, 204 Dowlin Avenue, Carmichaels, Pa. (724-966-5100) on Wednesday from 2 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., when a prayer service will be held at the Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church, Carmichaels with the Reverend John Bauer, Celebrant.
Interment in Greene Co. Memorial Park Mausoleum, Jefferson, Pa.
