Police take Dunbar man into custody

1 min read

State police said a Dunbar man accused of unlawful contact with a minor following an incident July 17 was taken into custody last week. Trooper Russell D. Freed said Magisterial District Judge Dwight K. Shaner had issued a warrant for the arrest of Ronald Raymond Crowe, 40, on charges of unlawful contact with a minor of a sexual nature and corruption of minors. Police captured him Aug. 4.

According to Freed, the charges were filed against Crowe after the father of the alleged victim found inappropriate text messages on his daughter’s cell phone. The father, who was not identified, immediately notified police.

Freed said a search warrant was executed at Crowe’s home on York Street, where police determined that he had been corresponding with the 12-year-old in text messages of a sexually explicit nature.

The Herald-Standard does not identify the victims of alleged sexual assault.
