Anna Veronica (Piwowar) Zitney
Anna Veronica (Piwowar) Zitney, age 96, of Uniontown, Pennsylvania passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at Windsong Care Center, Akron, Ohio. She had made her home in Akron with her family for the past four years. She was born February 22, 1913 in Oliver One, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, daughter of John Stanley Piwowar and Agatha (Rzepka) Piwowar.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Zitney Sr. on August 6, 1989; their son, Frank Zitney in 1947; a sister, Sophie (Piwowar) Pyro; and brother, Edward Piwowar.
Anna had been a member of Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Saint Joseph’s Confraternity of Christian Mothers, Saint Hedwig Lodge, Catholic Mothers Club of Oliver, the Uniontown Senior Citizens Center, and Handicap Club.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Patricia A. McCartney and her husband Walter of Greenwood, Indiana and Joseph A. Zitney Jr. and wife Jan of Akron, Ohio; Grandchildren: Elizabeth Glidden and husband Frank of Greenwood, Indiana, Gerald Cramer and his wife Wendy of Jupiter, Florida, Matthew Zitney and his wife Cami of Dallas, Texas, Mac Glidden of Greenwood, Indiana, Elizabeth Cramer and Christina Cramer of Cape Canaveral, Florida, Madison Zitney of Denton, Texas; brother, John Piwowar and wife Helen of Uniontown, Pennsylvania; special family members: Vickie Sears and her husband George of Wilmington, North Carolina, Scott McCartney and special friend Rhonda Honeycutt and son Justin of Wilmington, North Carolina, Sean McCartney of Sunrise, Florida, Eddie Groover and wife Lee and their daughter Crystal Groover of Wilmington, North Carolina, Jeremy Bailey and his son of Wilmington, North Carolina, Jensen Yu of Jupiter, Florida, Kevin May and his wife Vanessa of Nashville, Tennessee, Brenda May of New York City, New York; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC., 603 North Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, Pa., on Friday, August 14, 2009 from 5 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, August 15, 2009 until 9 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 a.m. in Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Old Walnut Hill Road, with Rev. Father Alexander L. Pleban as Celebrant.
Interment will be privately held in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Hopwood, Pennsylvania.
Memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Uniontown Senior Citizens Center, North Beeson Boulevard, Uniontown, PA 15401.
Saint Joseph Parish Family Vigil by The Ministry of Consolation will be held in the Funeral Home on Friday, August 14, 2009 at 6 p.m.
The Rosary will be recited on Friday at 6:15 p.m.
