Man charged with killing wife wants parents to get children

2 min read

A Brownsville man charged with running over his wife with his car in June wants his parents to be granted custody of his two children. Ronald Lee Higinbotham, 44, was charged with running over his wife on June 21 on Route 40 near the intersection of Searights Road in Menallen Township. Carmen Higinbotham, 30, died at the scene from multiple injuries to her head and abdomen.

Carmen Higinbotham was the mother of six children. Two were biologically hers, two were stepchildren with her husband and the couple adopted two other children.

One motion deals with Ronald Higinbotham’s two biological children, a 9-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy. Those children are staying with Patricia Ann and Donald Lee Higinbotham Sr., who live in West Brownsville in Washington County.

A separate custody motion deals with a 15-year-old adopted son. That son is staying with his cousins, Eric and Maxine Rosie.

Investigators said there had been marital problems between the couple. Police have indicated that Ronald Higinbotham told them he “might have killed” his wife. That prompted police to examine his Hyundai Tiburon, where they allegedly found Carmen Higinbotham’s blood and other evidence.

He remains in the Fayette County Prison without bond, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled in the homicide case later this month before Magisterial District Judge Joseph M. George Jr.
