Adolph Joseph “Pepper” Peroni, Jr., age 75, of Smock, peacefully went to be with Jesus on Thursday, August 13, 2009, at his home surrounded by his loving family after bravely battling a long illness. He was born June 13, 1934, in Smock, son of the late Adolph Peroni, Sr. and Pasqualina Cicconi Peroni.

Pepper was a member of Pleasant View Presbyterian Church in Smock, a Veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U.S. Navy, a lifetime member of Amvets Post 103, Gen. George C. Marshall, Hopwood. He was a retired employee of U.S. Steel Corporation at the Cumberland Mines and a member of UMWA, District 2, Local 2300.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Kathryn Chalfant Peroni, of Smock; his children: Brenda Mini and husband, Bill of Roschester, New York, Peggy Pegg and husband, Bob of Uniontown, Tony Peroni of Uniontown; his seven grandchildren in whose lives he was greatly involved: Kayla, Erica and Nicholas Mini, Michael and Allison Pegg and Anthony and Dominic Peroni and their mother, Michele Peroni; brothers and sister, Victor Peroni and wife, Elsie of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Theresa Constantine of Smock and Lou Peroni and wife, Ellie of Elm Grove, West Virginia.

He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren at their sporting events, musicals and dance recitals.

Friends will be received in DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, New Salem, Saturday, August 15, 2009, from 7 to 9 p.m and on Sunday, August 16, 2009, from 3 to 9 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday, August 17, 2009, in Pleasant View Presbyterian Church, Smock, from 10 to 11 a.m. the hour of service, with Pastor Nicholas Cook officiating.

Entombment will follow in Chapel of Peace Mausoleum in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.

Military rites will be accorded at the gravesite by Amvets Post 103 Gen. George C. Marshall, Hopwood, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Pepper’s memory to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1192, Uniontown, Pa., 15401 or Albert Gallatin Home Hospice, 20 Highland Park Drive, Uniontown, Pa., 15401
