Lawrence A. (Larry) Mecera
Lawrence A. (Larry) Mecera, age 62, of Carmichaels died on August 12, 2009 in the Washington Hospital. Though his health had been failing in recent years, his death was unexpected. Larry was born on February 1, 1947 in Elyria, Ohio, the son of the late Adolph and Elizabeth Szanyi Mecera.
On April 15, 1967, he married Ruth E. Phillips Mecera who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Rebecca Ellen Mecera, Carmichaels, and son, Matthew Lawrence Mecera and wife, Karen, Uniontown, and five grandchildren: Noah and Bethany Mecera, Katilyn, A.J. and Sara Strosnider, and several Aunts, Uncles, nieces and nephews
Two grandsons are deceased, Justin and Jason Mecera.
Larry served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from March 1968 to March 1969. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he served in several offices. He was also a member of the North Cumberland Twp. Food Pantry, and the Church Dart Ball League. He enjoyed photography.
Friends will be received in the LESAKO FUNERAL HOME INC., 204 Dowlin Avenue, Carmichaels, Pa. 15320 (724-966-5100), Paul M. Lesako Funeral Director/Supervisor, on Saturday, August, 15, 2009 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. when a Memorial Service will be held with the Reverend Bruce Judy, officiating.
Full Military Rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 400, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491 at the Funeral Home.
Interment will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, or the North Cumberland Food Pantry, both at 104 West South Street, Carmichaels, Pa. 15320
