1 min read

State police are searching for a man who called 911 and reported a false shooting in Springfield Township on Saturday. Trooper Alec Hamilton said multiple charges, including making false reports to law enforcement officers, are pending against the Fayette County man. According to Hamilton, the man called 911 at 10:20 a.m. and reported that one person had been shot and killed, another injured and 13 hostages taken at Camp Christian on Route 381 in Mill Run.

Hamilton said troopers from several state police barracks and a police helicopter responded to the scene and found that no shots had been fired and that a church picnic was occurring.

After tracing the call, police were able to determine the suspect had made the false call but had yet to apprehend the man as of deadline Saturday night.
